Prophet do we need it at the present age? What purpose do you think the role of the current prophet should be transmitting to the Christians and it a revelation that has been reveal.
From Moses time and the Old Testament the major prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel and some minor prophets has actually give a prophetic vision and warning consenting that what is going to happen and also the reason of the future in anticipation of the glory of Jesus Christ.
(Luk 16:31) And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
(Luk 24:27)And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
(Luk 24:44) And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
(Joh 6:45) It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
(Heb 1:1) God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
They are the one who claim and shout about the danger, warning and good things that is yet to happen and the movement of the spiritual will of God Almighty. The shout of God prophecy and revelation that is yet to come and breaking a path asking to be ready and repent of the remission of sin and to obedience in his wonderful work and will so that we may come back to his salvation. No wonder the Apostle Paul in the bible proclaim in Ephesians that the materialization of the corner stone of the Jesus Christ plan of salvation is build on the foundation and pathway of the apostles and prophets.
(Eph 2:20) And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Bit by bit or path by path his revelation was build and foundation of his plan was reveal slowly by the shout of the prophets in wilderness, nation after nation and kingdom by kingdom.
(Mat 13:35) That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
Time essence past by the revelation was make know to his chosen people as to clear the children the path back to his glorious kingdom and heaven. “Heaven” was a beautiful place until tainted and corrosion by the disobedience of Adam and Eve which fall short to the glory of God and hence abandonment from the Garden of Eden. Many prophets proclaim themselves as the prophet of this century and even profess of the revelation of God. Christian must be able to distinguish between the biblical revelation of God or a personal glory revelation of an individual which may distinguish between a false prophets and the real one.
(Mat 7:15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
(Mat 24:11) And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
(Mat 24:24) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
(1Jn 4:1) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
As professed by Christ himself the last all the prophets that prophesied of the revelation of the salvation of his will is until John the Baptist.
(Mat 11:13) For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
(Luk 16:16) The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
(Luk 7:28) For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
Therefore the current revelation and prophecy with regards to any current prophets has been no longer support and given to the Church as to prophecies his revelation. His revelation has fulfilled and accomplished. At the Old Testament time there is a need of prophets to proclaim and guide the people in order to complete thru a series of time frame and history to make known the whole revelation and the will of God in this both Old and New Testament, in scripture and biblical interpretation of God’s Kingdom and Revelation.
Our gift of prophecy is slowly being replaced by our faith, practice and wisdom of the Holy Spirit in pertaining to all our spiritual understanding and guidance in our Christian walk with God. The current day Church does not need prophets to provide Revelation of God that has already made known to us. We need only Apostles, Pastors and Teachers to build, reinforce and strengthening further our faith and assurance of the current revelation that is reveal.
Apart from that there is no revelation that can be added to the verse of the Scripture and Bible. As in Today no person has ever received the new truth and revelation. The current truth has been materialized and is absolute truth; no one can alter the current truth of the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Luk 10:24) For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
(Luk 11:49) Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:
(Luk 11:50) That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
Furtherance to the Apostle Paul explanation on the 1 Corinthian chapter 13 verse 8, whatsoever gifts we had whether it is of prophecy, tongue or knowledge is all will be over when the day passes. But the greatest of all the first and foremost second commandment of God. Love will always persist and remain as the foremost cornerstone guide in our entire testament.
1Co 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
The conclusion:
(1Co 14:37) If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
